William Bruce Gray

William B. Gray was born in Adams County, Illinois, near Quincy on September 10, 1858 and passed away at the home of his son, Harold Gray, near Prescott, March 24, 1944, aged 85 years, 8 months, 14 days.
At the age of five, he moved with is parents to Missouri and in 1874 he came to Iowa and except for a period spent in Dakota, has lived her since that time.
On October 25, 1881, at Corning, he was united marriage to Miss Sarah Daughtery, and to this union five children were born. One son, William passed away about ten years ago. Mrs. Gray passed away on November 14, 1934, and since that time he has made his home with his son, Harold and his daughter, Mrs. Jennie Snethen.
Mr. Gray was a member of the Iveyville Methodist Church.
Those who survive to mourn his passing are: his children, Mrs. Mable Bristol, Massena; Mrs. Jennie Snethen, Corning, Lee, Villisca; Harold, Prescott; grandchildren and great grandchildren, one brother, Dell of Bozeman, Montana; other relatives and many friends.
Mr. Gray had been bedfast for six months, and was a patient sufferer. He was a good father and neighbor and will be missed by all who knew him.
Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the Lines Funeral Home and were conducted by Rev. F. G. Barnes. Burial was at Quincy.
