Alva Dewey Walter, "Alvy" son of Edward R. and Hattie White Walter was born December 21, 1893 in Adams County, Iowa on a farm northwest of Nodaway, where he lived his entire life. He departed this life at the Rosary Hospital on July 28, 1962 at the age of 63 years, 7 months, and 7 days.
On July 18, 1920 he married Gladys Lucinda Pond in Brooks, Adams County, Iowa and to this union was born six children. They are, Harold E. of Prescott, Mrs. Darlene Breese of Brooks, Glen E. of Council Bluffs, Mrs. Mary Jo Rowe of Des Moines, Mrs. Carolyn Dixon of Corning, and Connie of the home.
He is survived by his wife, six children, two daughter-in-laws, three son-in-laws, 9 grandchildren, three sisters, Cordelia Pond of Logan, Melvina Ankeny of Council Bluffs, and Violet Patterson of Omaha, Nebraska, mother-in-law, Clara Pond of Nodaway, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
He was a member of the Methodist Church.
Funeral services were held Monday, July 30, 1962 at 1:30 p.m. at the Methodist Church in Corning with the Rev. Don Briley of Prescott officiating with burial in the Nodaway Cemetery.
