Barbara Ann Spaltein, the daughter of Conrad and Barbara she came to Spaltein, was born December 4, 1866 at Fleach Switzerland and passed away February 4, 1942 at the Jennie Edmundson Hospital at the age of 76 years and 3 months.
At the age of 21 years she came to this country and made her home in Chicago until her marriage on December 12, 1892. she united in marriage to Conrad Richie. To this union eight children were born, Charles, Raymond of Corning, Albert of Miami, Florida, Mabel Owens, Anna Groff of Brooks, Louise Moore of Lenox, Nellie and Fred at home; 11 grandchildren, two sisters in Switzerland. She was preceded in death by her husband, mother and father. she was a good mother and a good neighbor and loved by all who knew her.
in the year of 1901 she came to Iowa residing in Montgomery County and later moving to Adams County where she spent the remainder of her life. She joined the Methodist Church remaining a faithful Christian throughout her life. In later years her Bible was her greatest comfort.
Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at 3 o'clock February 6 from the Millard Funeral home, conducted by Rev. A. E. Nelson. Music was furnished by Mrs. Russell Roland and John Ringel, accompanist, Mrs. Law. Burial was made in the Prairie Rose Cemetery.
