Conrad Richie, son of John and Anna Richie, was born in Fleach, Switzerland, August 14, 1862 and passed away at his home at the age of 74 years and 11 days. When a young man, Mr. Richie came to this country and in a couple of years his parents followed locating on a farm in Illinois, later moving to Iowa, locating in Montgomery County, Iowa. A few years later he moved to Adams County.
His illness was of long duration, but he was a patient sufferer. He was a faithful, honest, hard working father, and his chief interest was in his work and his home. He was a member of the Lutheran Church, in which he held membership at the time of his death.
He is survived by his widow and eight children, Albert of Miami, Florida, Charles, Raymond, Mabel Owen, Anna Groff, Louise Moore of near Corning; and Nellie and Fred at home. He also leaves 11 grandchildren and five brothers, Fred, Jacob, John, Henry, and George, all of Washington; and also many other relatives and friends. His father and mother and two sisters preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held from the home Thursday at 2:30 p.m., conducted by Rev. William Overhulser, pastor of the Methodist Church at Brooks. Burial was made in the Prairie Rose Cemetery.
Those from a distance who attended the funeral were Mrs. Howard Morse from Naperville, Illinois, Mrs. Frank Bates,Sr., Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bates, Jr., Mr. and Mrs. Charles Doan, Mr. and Mrs. Orlo Anderson, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Bates, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Ingersoll and son, Tommy, Thomas Thompson and Carl Mathael.
