The body of Mrs. John Gurd arrived last Monday evening from Omaha, and was interred in Walnut Grove Cemetery, Tuesday under the auspices of the local Knights of Pythias Lodge. Mrs Gurd had undergone an operation in Omaha and was thought to be recovering nicely, when a relapse set in which resulted in her death. She was well known to our citizens as Mrs. John U. Cowan and formerly resided here. Since leaving Corning, she was remarried to Mr. Gurd to whom the sympathy of the community is extended in his bereavement.

The remains of the late Mrs. Cowan were brought to Corning from Fremont, Nebraska, Monday evening, and buried Tuesday in Walnut Grove Cemetery by the side of her husband. Mrs. Cowan had remarried.
