Arthur Cole Egleston

Arthur Cole Egleston, son of Benjamin H Egleston and Ida Mary Cole was born on a farm near Carbon, Iowa, June 11, 1883. He passed away on his farm home west of Corning March 20, 1954 at the age of 71 years, 2 months, and 9 days, after an illness of several months.
He was united in marriage to Pearl Iona Raney on December 24, 1905 in Villisca, Iowa and they have spent their entire life in Adams County and adjacent counties. They are the parents of four children, all of whom survive, together with his wjfe, are Violet Brenton, Villisca, Lloyd and Paul Egleston of Fresno, California, Geraldine Zuber of Grangerville, Idaho. Besides his wife and children he leaves two brothers, Will J. Eglestonof Lenox, Iowa, and Roy H. Egleston of Sharpsburg, Iowa; also a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Zuber of Estacada, Oregon, twelve grandchildren and one little great-grandchild, also a number of nieces and nephews.
His father, mother, one brother and two sisters preceded him in death.
He was a devoted husband and father, and enjoyed his many neighbors and friends, and they were happy to help him pass the time away during her last illness. He was always willing to lend a helping hand in time of need.
Funeral services were held March 23 at 2 p.m. at the Sutphen Funeral Home in Villisca with M. A. Robeson officiating. Music was by Carol Weaver with Mrs. Frances Weaver accompanying. Interment was in Arlington Cemetery.
Pall bearers were C. F. Barker, James Barker, Harry McMorran, George Harrack, and Dale Ostad. Flower girls were Mrs. Harry McMorran and Mrs. James Barker.
