Ida Mary Cole Egleston

Many friends in Adams County were grieved to learn of the death of Mrs. Benjamin H. Egleston which occurred at her home in Villisca Monday. The funeral was held Wednesday afternoon at 2:30, at the Methodist Church at Villisca conducted by Rev. J. W. Taylor. Interment was made in the Villisca Cemetery. Ida Mary Cole was born in Richland New York, March 11, 1852 and was 61 years, 2 months, and 1 day old at the time of her death. She was married to Benjamin H. Cole December 1, 1869 and in February1876 they moved to Illinois and then they moved to Kansas, where they lived for three years, coming to Iowa in 1881, where they have since resided. Mrs. Egleston was a former resident of Douglas township residing there for a great many years. In 1893 they moved to their farm near Villisca and last March they removed to Villisca. Eight children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Egleston, two dying in infancy. The living children are, Mrs. Louise Oster residing near Villisca, W. S. Egleston of White River, South Dakota, Arthur C. Egleston of Villisca, Mrs. Elizabeth Phillips of Villisca, Fred C. Egleston near Nodaway. All children were with the mother during her last illness.
