Fred Cooper, son of George and Dinah Cooper, was born in Adams County, Iowa, September 9, 1872 and passed away in Corning, Iowa, January 16, 1956, at the age of 83 years, 4 months, and 6 days.
He was united in marriage to Vernie Hartsock February 9, 1896, who preceded him in death February 11, 1928.
To this union one son Glen was born with whom Fred made his home for the last 12 years.
Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, John and Robert; and three sisters, Jennie, Emma, and Alice.
One brother, Ralph of Corning and three sisters, Mrs. Lou Houck, of Creston, Mrs. Ella Johnson of Rockville, Missouri, and Mrs. Nell Carigan of Mt. Etna, four grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren survive him in addition to his son and daughter-in-law.
Most of his married life was spent on a farm north of Carbon.
Services were held Wednesday, January 18, 1956 at 10:30 a.m. from the Roland Funeral Home in Corning with the Rev. Frank Jacobs in charge.
Music for the services was furnished by Esther Roland accompanied by Eva Elmore, pianist.
Pall bearers were Don Cooper, Wayne Bixler, Don Debbie, Jimmy Bryant, Jimmy Lee, and Billy Earl Bixler.
