Rosa Jackson, daughter of Isaac and Hanna Wilcox Jackson, was born in Stark County, Illinois, December 23, 1856 and passed away May 29, 1947 at 1:30 in the morning at the Greater Community Hospital in Creston at the age of 90 years, 5 months, and 6 days. She had enjoyed very good health for one her age and had enjoyed going to her brothers home across the road for her meals each day. Five days before her death she fell from a chair and broke her hip.
She came with her family from Kewanne, Ilinois in 1883. Her mother passed away when Miss Jackson was but a girl and she filled a mother’s place in the home.
She leaves to mourn her brother, Ira Jackson of Brooks, Levi and an infant brother and four sisters, Mrs. Sarah Johnson, Mrs. Martha Segriff, Mrs. Mary Renshaw, and Mrs. Olive Erskin preceded her in death.
She was a kind and loving sister and neighbor and derived more pleasure from giving and doing for others than in receiving things for herself. She will be greatly missed by all who know her.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 31, 1947 at the Boyd Roland Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m., conducted by Rev. V. A. Blomquist. Music was by Harl Jackson and Mrs. Albert Lund, accompanied by Eva Roland. Pall bearers were Albert Lund, Chester Reichards, Albert Reichards, Harve Davis, Maurice Reichards, and Frank Murdock. Interment was in Prairie Rose Cemetery.
