Ida June Palmer King

Ida J. Palmer, daughter of Abel and Jane Palmer, was born in Henry County, Illinois, February 20, 1868 and died in Corning, Adams County, Iowa on December 1, 1954 at the age of 86 years, nine months, and 11 days. She came to Adams County with her parents in 1870. They located on a farm six miles west of Corning where she lived with her parents until she was married on September 10, 1891. She was united in marriage to Chas. S. King.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Florence Rowland of Kansas City, Missouri and Mrs. Mertelle Charles of Omaha, Nebraska, also 6 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Stella Odell of Brooks and one brother, Frank Palmer of Council Bluffs, Iowa.

Mrs. King was a member of the Corning Methodist Church and very faithful in her attendance as long as her health would permit her to attend. For many years she took care of her aged mother and kept house for her brother until he passed away. She then came to Corning where she lived for the past 19 years.

The funeral was held at the Boyd Roland Funeral Home on December 3, at 2 P.M. with Rev. Frank Jacobs conducting the service. Music was by Mrs. Esther Roland and John Riegel with Mrs. Marian Champ as pianist. Burial was in Quincy Cemetery, Adams County, Iowa.

Pall bearers were Glen Palmer, Otto Sundstrom, J. W. Charles, Orville Palmer, John Rowland and Clifford Odell.
