Mrs. H. S. Bender, died at her home in Corning, Saturday, September 21, 1912 at 12:30 o’clock from peritonitis, after an illness of about two months. Mrs. Bender’s maiden name was Sarah A. Miller. She was born in Iowa and came to Adams County about 32 years ago. She was married to H. S. Bender December 24, 1895 and to the union seven children were born, one of whom died in infancy. The living children are Clarence, Carrie, Lillie, Gladys, Blanche, and Arthur, all at home. Besides her husband and the children, Mrs. Bender is survived by her father. G. G. Bender, who lives here; also six brothers, Charles Miller of Fullerton; William of Nodaway; John, Jacob, and Fred of this place, and James Miller. Funeral services were held at the Christian Church Monday afternoon at 2:30, conducted by Rev. I. H. Fuller, pastor of the Christian Church of Prescott. Interment was made in Walnut Grove Cemetery. Friends of the family extend deep sympathy to the bereaved husband and children in their sorrow.
