COLWELL, GASTIN, WEAVER, GRADY, HUNT

Jason F Colwell died of heart failure at the home of his daughter, Mrs Miles Weaver, Hayes, Iowa, on January 19, 1906 aged 72 years 2 months and 20 days. Deceased was born in Hyde Park Vermont on October 30 1833 from which place he went with his parents to New York state where he resided until 13 years of age afterward coming across the lakes to Illinois. He served three years in company C Thirty-fourth Illinois Infantry, during the rebellion, receiving an honorable discharge in September 1864 Mr Colwell was married to Miss Amelia C Gaslin at Amboy Illinois August 15 1866, and to their union were born four children Mrs Jennie A Grady, Frank E., Mrs Mina L Weaver, all of Adams county and Mrs Mollie L Hunt of Lee county Illinois all of whom survive him and were present at his bedside when he passed into the great beyond except Mrs Hunt who was not able to be here. Mrs Colwell died August 6, 1879. Beside the four children one sister and four brothers mourn Mr Colwell's loss. Mr Colwell and children came to this county from Illinois in 1886 and have resided here ever since. The funeral services were held from the M.E. church in Hayes on Sunday January 21, 1906 conducted by Rev Mr Duling, and interment was made in the cemetery near by.
