Vernon Patrick Moore was born the son of Leo Joseph and Agnes Herzog Moore, March 17, 1910 on a farm near Mt. Etna, Iowa and passed away at the Rosary Hospital in Corning May 28, 1976 at the age of 86 years, 2 months, and 11 days.
He was united in marriage to Audrey Dhone on December 5, 1930. To this union a son, Albert Leo was born.
Vern loved the land and the entire married life was spent in Adams County where they engaged in farming.
He was preceded in death by his parents in 1918; a brother hardly in 1966, and a sister Blanche Hamiluis in 1974.
Survivors include his wife and son; a sister, Mrs. Alice Williams and her husband Howard of Council Bluffs, Iowa; a sister-in-law, Iola Moore of Coos Bay, Oregon, and a brother-in-law Jack Hamiluis of Cumberland, Iowa, as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
Vern will be greatly missed by those who knew him. He ws a good neighbor, a true friend, and was loved and respected by all.
Funeral services were held May 31 at 1:30 p.m. at the Larkin-Roland Funeral Home in Corning with Rev. Lewis Hunter officiating. Burial was in the Quincy Cemetery.
Donna Peckham provided organ music. Pall bearers were Richard Hamilius, Karmit Cooney, Norvell Hock, Jim Walters, Stanley Frederick, and C. R. (Dick) Miller.
