Richard R. Wycoff

Rirchard R. Wycoff passed from this life at his home in Corning, Saturday, October 1, 1921. Funeral services were held at Lincoln Center church Monday afternoon, conducted by Rev. E. B. Menoher, pastor of the Corning M. E. church, and the
body was laid to rest in the cemetery nearby.
R. R. Wycoff was born in Switzerland county, Indiana, April 22,
1835 and died October 1, 1921, being at the time of his death aged 86 years, 5 month and 9 days.
When he was five years of age he came to Des Moines county, with his father's family. March 23, 1858, he was married to Miss Lydia Husted, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ephriam Husted, of Des Moines county. To this union were born eleven children. Four of whom preceded their father to the better world. His companion
also preceded he 14 years ago. Seven children are left to mourn, but not without hope. They are Amasa Wycoff, of Villisca; Dennett Wycoff, of Corning; J. E. Wycoff, of Indianola; Burkett Wycoff, of Greenfield; Mrs. William Bainbridge of Marley, Iowa; Mr. Sant Sterns, of Corning; Mrs. L. B. Calkin of Billings, Mont.; Alonzo C. Wycoff died at the age of 24 years; Elmer H., Robert R. and Aerry Abraham Wycoff died in infancy.
Mr. Wycoff was converted at a early age and united with the Methodist church. After coming to Adams county he placed his membership in the United Brethren church, being organized at that time, and he lived a loayal and faithful Christian life. For many years Mr. Wycoff held a license to preach. In 1872 he came to Adams county and the greater part of this life was spent 14 miles northwest of Corning, he having move to Corning about 18 months ago. Mr. Wycoff was a fine gentleman with a large circle of friends. To know hims was to love him and he had many admired him for his strong Christian character and sterling
worth.
