William Hock (Dick) Wycoff, 87, son of William M. and Nellie May Hock Wycoff, was born November 11, 1901 in Adams County, Iowa and died August 3, 1989 at Mercy Hospital in Corning.
During his younger years, the family lived with his father’s parents on the original Wycoff farm. He attended country school at Fairiew No. 6 which was located on the farm.
On February 25, 1927, he married Mary Hillyer Curry of Grant. They farmed in the Lincoln Center area, living on the same farm all their married life, until retiring and moving to Corning in 1976.
He went into the purebred Shorthorn Cattle Business in 1947, which he continued until 1976. He serves as director of the local school and was a member of the Lincoln Center Church since boyhood.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Ruth. He is survived by his wife; four daughters, Beulah Konecne, and husband Joe of Corning; Mary Smith of Davenport; Loretta Wycoff and Lois Stevens, both of Omaha; a sister, Carrie Lundquist of Lenox; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services were held August 6 at the Coen-Beaty Funeral Home in Corning with the Rev. Rick Johnson officiating.
Casket bearers were Jerry Carr, Terry Curry, Bill Peterson, John McElwain, Donald Drennan, and Stanley Peterson. Honorary bearers were Verle Vogel, Gale Penfold, Boyd Schafer, Wayne Wilson, and Seymour Schafer.
Burial was in the Oak Hill Cemetery at Corning with Coen-Beaty Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
