Fletcher Wycoff, died at his home in Lincoln Township, Friday, April 14, 1916 of paralysis. The funeral was held Sunday, April 16th at the Lincoln Center Church. The services were conducted y Rev. C. F. Smith of Grant. The body was laid to rest in Lincoln Center Cemetery.
Fletcher Wycoff was born December 26, 1838 in Switzerland County, Indiana. He was one of Abraham and Lydia Corine Wycoff. He came to Des Moines County, Iowa, with his parents in 1841, where grew to manhood. He and his brother, R. R. Wycoff, were engaged in the mercantile business for a number of years at Kossuth, Iowa. Mr. Wycoff was married to Martha A. Seeds of Kossuth, Iowa, February 27, 1868. They had four children, William M. Wycoff, Mrs. Mary F. Roberts, Harry Wycoff, all of Lincoln Townwhip, and Roberts S. Wycoff, who died in 1881, aged six years. Mr. Wycoff united with the M. E. Church at the age of 19 years and has been a member of that church for 58 years.
In 1877 the family moved to Ottumwa, Iowa, where they lived for four years. In 1881 they moved to Adams County, Iowa, where they have lived for the last 35 years. Mr. Wycoff was a resident of Iowa 74 years. Besides his wife and children, he leaves two brothers, R. R. Wycoff, of Lincoln Township, and H. E. of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, also four sisters, Mrs. Susan Long of Holt Summit, Missouri; Mrs. Mary Latimer of Denver, Colorado; Mrs. Martha Walker of Omaha, Nebraska, and Miss Lydia J. Wycoff of Los Angeles, California, to mourn his loss. Mr. Wycoff was one of the highly respected resident of this community and will be missed by a large circle of friends.
