Rose Jane Stover Todd, the daughter of the late William Stover of Adams County and wife of the Rev. William E. Manning Todd, pastor of Central Collegate Church, Gloversville, New York, died at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mr. G. H. Snodgrass, at Greenfield, Indiana, Monday morning, March 15, 1926 at 2 a.m. at the age of 59 years, 11 months, and 8 days.
Mrs. Todd was born in Adams County where she grew to womanhood and received her early education and did her first teaching. She was married on Christmas day, 1890 to Rev. Wm. E. Todd, D. D. and since then she has proved a most worthy helper in the activities of the churches which they both loved to serve. Her work as a teacher, as a musician, a public speaker for federated woman's class has been of such a nature that it has been felt in many places almost from coast to coast.
She was a charming hostess and here in the home was her influence most felt. It is said that rarely did the family sit down to a meal alone. She was a devoted careful mother and chum of her son and daughter, who with the devoted husband survive her.
The daughter, is Ruth Miriam Snodgrass and the son, John William Stover Todd, of rockford, Illinois. She is also survived by two brothers, L. D. Stover of Stillwater, Oklahoma, and S. A. Stover of Kingsburg, California; two sisters, Mrs. Wm Peterson and Mrs. Lizzie Peterson of this county, and a grandson, John William Todd of rockford, Illinois, with many nephews and nieces devoted to her memory.
There was a farewell services in the Presbyterian Church at Greenfield, Indiana, where she died, conducted by Rev. John Armstrong. Rev. James E. Congdon, Jr. of the Corning Federated Church, conducted the services at the Methodist Church at Mt. Etna, where the large gathering paid tribute to a memory undaunted by the passing of years.
Many in this vicinity knew and loved Mrs. Todd and regret the passing of this splendid example of Christian womanhood. The sympathy of the whole community goes out to the loved ones who will miss her companionship, sympathy, and helpfulness.
