Funeral services for Mrs. Hattie Havens were held on Friday, October 6, 1959 at the Sutphen Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul C. Ellis officiating.
Pall bearers were Chester Baker, Lowell O'Dell Jr., Bernard Havens, Donald Costing, Willis Cooper, and Gene Havens. Alternate pall bearers were Robert Havens and Dennis Neal and flower bearers were Mrs. Catherine Windom and Mrs. Helen Baker.
The soloist rendered "Beyond The Sunset" and "The Old Rugged Cross" and she was accompanied by Mrs. Mable Dunn at the organ.
Concluding service and interment was made in the Villisca Cemetery.
Hattie Dyer, daughter of John and Jane Rosacrants Dyer was born November 30, 1876 in Galesburg, Illinois and passed away October 6, 1959.
She grew up in Missouri near Graynor City. When she was a long woman, she came with her parents to Villisca, Iowa.
On February 16, 1898, she was united in marriage to Alfred Havens. They spent their active years farming, later retiring to their home in Villisca. Mr. Havens passed away on October 10, 1951.
She is survived by four children, Glade Havens of Brooks, Iowa; Mrs. Chester Baker of Anacortes, Washington, Mrs. Lowell Odell of Brooks; and Donald Havens of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.
She was a life-long student of the Bible and had been a member of the Christian Church since her youth.
She was a loving wife and mother, devoted to the home and family and thoughtful of everyone.
