Anna Jane Figgins, the daughter of William and Sarah Haney Roberts was born at her parents home four miles west of Carbon, Iowa, January 20, 1891 and entered into rest at the Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Corning, Iowa January 20, 1981 on her 90th birthday.
She grew to womanhood, received her education and spent all of her life around the Carbon area. She was united in marriage with Henry Jobe Figgins December 26, 1921 and they farmed west of Carbon all of their married life. Although the couple was not blessed with children of their own, each nephew and niece was loved like one of their own.
In addition to her kind and thoughtful way, Anna will be remembered for her love of flowers. This was shown in the endless hours which she spent in her garden and flower beds.
Henry and Anna celebrated their 53rd Wedding Anniversary December 26, 1974. Following Mr. Figgins death December 14, 1975, she remained on the farm until November of 1976 when she entered the nursing home.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, and brothers and sisters. Survivors include a host of nieces and nephews, who each remember many little things that Aunt Annie did especially for them.
Funeral services were held at the Larkin-Roland funeral Home in Corning, January 22 at 1:30 p.m., with Rev. Alfred Hunter of Clarinda officiating. Interment was in Quincy Cemetery.
Kathy Schafer was organist and soloist. Pall bearers were Elmo Odson, Don Wolfe, Vaughn Tindall, John Hunter, Bryan Goodvin, and Edward Hoyt.
