John W. Corbin, aged 89 years, 2 month, and 27 days, passed away Wednesday morning, November 18th at 11:15 o'clock at the home of his daughter, Mrs. C. H. Kingery in Corning.
Mr. Corbin was born August 18, 1861 in Kirksville, Missouri, son of Benjamin and Susan Corbin. During childhood, the family resided in Ohio, later moving to Missouri, then to Oregon. On January 28, 1886 he was united in marriage to Olive White in Atlantic, Iowa, who passed away in March 1912. To their family two children were born.
Mr. Corbin has made his home with his son Dean in Oregon and returned to Iowa and made his home with his daughter until his death.
He is survived by three sons, Les of Gravity, Aaron of Minnesota, and Dean of Oregon, two daughters, Maude Beller of Jackson, Tennessee and Grace Kingery of Corning.
Besides his wife and mother, five children have preceded him in death, Guv of Charleston, Richard of Corning, twin sons, George and William and an infant daughter, Clara.
Mr. Corbin was the last of a family of nine boys, all other members of his family having passed away.
During the past three months, Mr. Corbin has been bedfast and was a patient sufferer in his last days.
Mr. Corbin was a devout Christian having united with the Church of the Brethren in Mt. Etna in 1897. He was consistent in his belief and loved to be of service to the church of his choice. He was a man who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Funeral services were held Friday, November 17, 1950 at 1:30 p.m. in the Boyd Roland Company Funeral Home in Corning, conducted by Rev. Harry Rogers. Interment in Grant Cemetery. Music was furnished by Mrs. Esther Roland and John Riegel, accompanied by Mrs. John Champ.
Pall bearers were Everett Fees, Ed Roberts, Harold Hill, Frank Kingery, Andy Johnston, and Walter Arnold.
