Joy Thaine Corbin, son of Lester and Bessie Foster Corbin, was born May 18, 1920 in Brooks, Iowa and departed this life July 31, 1975 at the age of 55 years, 2 months, and 13 days.
He was united in marriage to Freda Lorine Byrn on January 12, 1944 and to this union a daughter, Marilyn Joyce came to bless their home.
He attended Holt #8 Country School where he completed his eighth grade education. He worked for Mark Young on his farm until his marriage, after which he engaged in farming for himself.
He served in World War II and once again engaged in farming. He worked for Lenox Division, Lenox, Iowa and on road construction in Red Oak. On May 21, 1973 he was employed at Uniroyal Company in Maryville, Missouri, where he worked and still farmed until his death.
He was a member of the Oak Hill Church where he served as a Sunday School Superintendent and usher for several years. He was greatly dedicated and thoroughly enjoyed his work at Uniroyal, and ping pong games.
He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife Freda, one daughter Marilyn Joyce Mothershead and husband Dwight, his step mother, Myrtle, one half sisters, Mary Lou Jackson, relatives, and a host of friends.
He was a hard working husband and father and will be greatly missed by his wife and daughter and all those who knew and worked with him.
Funeral services were held at the Oak Hill Church north of Gravity August 3 at 2 pm. Interment was in the Washington Cemetery in Gravity, Iowa.
