Lulu Herring daughter of John D. and Mabel F. Shull Foster, was born February 17, 1888 in Adams County, Iowa and passed away October 27, 1981 at the Rosary Hospital in Corning, Iowa at the age of 93 years, 8 months, and 10 days.
She was united in marriage to Harry G. Herring in Corning, Iowa, April 18, 1906. Seven children were born to bless this union.
Mrs. Herring was a devoted wife and mother who touched her family with love and caring. She was a wonderful neighbor and friend. She was a cook at the cafe and hotel for many years. Mrs. Herring lived most of her life in Adams County.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Harry, who died October 4, 1951; two sons, Floyd and Erve, her parents, a brother Ira, two sisters, Letha Foster and Minerva Action; and three grandchildren, Harry Albert, Sue Catherine, and Kenneth Wayne Herring.
Those who will treasure the warm memories of her life are her daughter, Leola Elwood and husband Arthur of Red Oak; four sons, Gene and wife Cheryl of Corning, Cleo and wife Katherine and Francis and wife Kathy Ann of Red Oak; 18 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchldren; two sisters, Katherine Foster of Leon and Mrs. Inez Beck of Denver, Colorado, two daughters-in-law, Mrs. Erve Herring of Bedford and Mrs. Floyd Herring of Omaha, Nebraska, and many other relatives, friends, and neighbors.
Funeral services were held at the Goodwin Lindsay Funeral Home in Corning, October 30, at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Zona Lautt officiating. Burial was in the Prairie Rose Cemetery.
Music was provided by Doris Swartz, organist and Virgil Lee, soloist. Pall bearers were Gary Randall, Stephen, LeRoy, and Dennis Herring, Marvin Elwood, and Melvin Howard.
