Helen W. Odell, 84, was born November 16, 1908 in Villisca, Iowa to William H. and winifred Selser Williams and died January 19, 1993 at Mercy Hospital in Corning.
Services were held Friday, January 22, from the First Presbyterian Church in Corning, The Rev. Ken Rummer officiating.
She attended school at Villisca and graduated from high school in 1925. Mrs. Odell attended Clarinda Junior College. The University of Northern Iowa and graduated from Drake University in Des Moines.
She married LaVerne A. Parker on March 17, 1930, he died in 1959. She married Clifford H. Odell on August 11, 1963.
Mrs. Odell taught mathematics in Junior High School for 21 years and served as Corning Community School secretary for five years. She was a member of the Corning Presbyterian Church, PI Chapter, Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority, Chapter CV, PEO, and charter member of the Corning Department Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands, and a brother Winifred.
Survivors include three step children, Dale Odell of Keokuk, Carol (husband Bud) Thomas of Tipp City, Ohio, and Glenn (wife Marj) Odell of Norman, Oklahoma; six step-grandchildren, and for step-great-grandchildren.
Casket bearers were Lee Odell, Eric Thomas, Kevin Thoas, John Harris, Doug Sickler, and Donald Willett.
Burial was in the Villisca Cemetery. Sutphen-Beaty Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
