James Ernest Jett

James Ernest Jett, son of James C. and Jennie E. Jett, was born August 23rd 1889, near Amoret, Missouri and passed away at the Cooper Hospital rooms in Villisca, Sunday evening March 30, 1947 aged 57 years, 7 months, and 7 days. He came to Nodaway with his parents in 1900.
On Deember 25, 1910, he was married to Aurel Bell Hollingsworth and to them were born four sons, Harold K. of Villisca, James D. of Los Angeles, California, Garnett H. of Shreveport, LA, and a son who died in infancy. A grandson Keith Jett was also raised in the home.
Besides his devoted wife and three sons he leaves to mourn his passing one sister, Mrs. Nellie Day of Corning, several nieces and nephews and a host of friends. His father and mother and one sister, Mrs. Tom Conway, preceded him in death.
In 1926 he with his family moved to Hawleyville, where they resided for twenty years, moving back to Nodaway one year ago.
He was a man of sterling qualities, honest in his business dealings and willing to lend a hand when and wherever needed.
Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian Church, Wednesday afternoon at 2 p.m. conducted by Rev. Wayne Shelfful. Pall bearers were Charlie Wood, Sam Wallace, Floyd Agnew, Ernest Richie, Elvin Nash, and Ben Baker. Music was furnished by Mr. and Mrs. Martin Taylor. The flowers were cared for by Mrs. Margaret Wood and Mrs. Abbie Vaughn.
Interment was in the Nodaway Cemetery.
