Minnie E. daughter of Thomas and Elizabeth Moore, was born near Fairfield, Iowa, January 30th, 1869 and passed away at her home in Nodaway on March 23rd, 1948, at the age of 70 years, 1 month, and 22 days.
When a small child she moved with her parents to Cainville, Missouri and later returned to Iowa, the family locating near Onawa, where she grew to womanhood. She was married to James W. Hollingsworth on September 4th, 1890 and they established their home at Mt. Etna, moving to Nodaway in 1908 where they resided until her death. To this union were born two children, Mrs. Aurel B. Jett of Nodaway and Harold H., who died in infancy. Besides her husband and daughter, there are three grandsons, Harold Jett, of Tensile, James D. Jett of Los Angeles, California, and Garnett H. Jett of Shreveport, La. There are also eight great grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Valara Roberts and Mrs. Grace Shook, bot of Onawa, and numerous other relatives and a host of friends.
Mrs. Hollingsworth was raised in the Seventh Day Adventist Faith, but later joined the Presbyterian Church in Nodaway. She was also a member of the W.R.C. for over twenty years. She has faithfully served her family and her church all her life until failing health forced her to discontinue her activities.
Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian Church on Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Wayne Shelfful. The music was by Mrs. R. J. Dismukes and Mrs. Harold Everett, with Mrs. Rose Stalder at the piano. Pall bearers were Charlie Wood, Chas. Watts, John Strain, Ben Baker, Henry Howard, and Frank Arnott. The W.R.C. ladies also held their ritualistic services. Interment was in the Nodaway Cemetery.
