Riley, Elvin -
Elvin Riley, age 89, passed away at his home, near Stringtown, rural Lenox, on November 1, 2003. Mr. Riley was
born October 21, 1914, in San Juan, TX to Robert E. and Olive May (Bovaird) Riley. He was a graduate of the Lenox High
School with the Class of 1932. He attended the Junior College in Creston for two years. He married Eula Mae Tindle on May 25,
1940 in Lenox.
He was a farmer all of his life, a life-long member of the Stringtown Church. He served on the Lenox School Board for
several different terms. They built and lived in a retirement house in Riverside, CA for about 10 years. He and Eula Mae enjoyed
traveling and had visited Hawaii, Florida, Virginia and the DC area.
He is survived by his wife, Eula Mae and sons: Richard (Creola) Riley, Riverside, CA; Randall (Pam) Riley, Lenox, David
(Nancy), Lenox and Daughter Nancy (Mike) Ford, Tingley.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Leona Stanley. He is survived by 12 grandchildren, and 4 great
grandchildren.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 5, 2003 at the Stringtown Community Church, Pastor Roy Cook will
officiate. Burial will be in the Walnut Grove Cemetery, Corning. There is open visitation from 3-9 p.m. Tuesday and the family
will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Tuesday at Coen-Beaty-Pearson funeral home in Corning. Memorials can be made to the
Stringtown Community Church and/or Walnut Grove Cemetery.
