John Milton Narigon, 83, was born November 27, 1879 in Adams County, Iowa to Joseph Narigon and Adelaide Humphrey Narigon. He departed this life suddenly on January 12, 1963 at his home.
He grew to manhood and spent his entire life on the farm where he was born. He was married to Florence Curry in 1928 at Missouri. He is survived by his widow, one son, a daughter-in-law, one sister, Mrs. Leslie Johnson; two grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Friends and neighbors will remember him as a honest and active worker, laboring from sun-up to sun-down. He took deep pride in his farm. It wasn't unusual to see "King Bill" as his friends know him, out in the farm pasture cutting thistle and weeds or trimming out willow or shrub to keep his farm in good condition, even to his last summer on earth. He had a great zest for living and enjoyed life very much.
It was a pleasure in his reclining years to attend the weekly sales at Corning sale barns and chat about the good old times with his remaining old friends, whom he had known for so many years.
Although he was old in years, he was young in spirit. Death came peacefully and unexpectedly to John, who always dreaded he might become ill and linger to be a burden to his loved ones.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 15, at 1:30 p.m. from the Roland Funeral Home in Corning with Rev. Virgil Peterson officiating. Music was by Mrs. Bert Peckham, Mrs. Doyle Tranburger, Mrs. Martin Taylor. Pall bearers were Martin Taylor, Randall Rachterbach, Merle Brown, Gilbert Rider, Dan Pierce, and Clyde Furshing. Interment was in the Nodaway Cemetery.
