The death messenger has again entered our midst and Mrs. Gilbert Hicks answered its summons at 6:30 Saturday morning, after an illness of many weary months, borne with remarkable patience and endurance, maintained to the end. Mrs. Hicks was kind hearted and generous; as a neighbor she was one among the very best and she made a staunch friend. She loved her home and enjoyed her neighbors. Her many callers during her long illness demonstrated the esteem given her by her friends. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the home, conducted by Rev. E. C. Wilson, pastor of the Congregational Church. The singing was furnished by a mixed choir, Mr. and Mrs. P.M. Webb, Mrs. M. E. McLaughlin, and Will Smith. Pall bearers were John Repplinger, Harvey Landis, Frank and George Mullin, Frank Purviance, and Chas. Johnston. Flower girls, Dorothy Landis, Marie Repplinger, Julia and Lots Routh, and Florence and Clara Callan. The services were held attended by many relatives and friends from elsewhere, whose names we did not learn, but among them were mrs. W. S. Lyons, Mr. and Mrs. McPherren, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Abbey, and daughter of Corning; Mr. and Mrs. Otis Abbey and son Kenneth, Mt. Etna; Mr. and Mrs. Jake Briles and daughter and Ed Briles and son, Prescott; Mr. and Mrs. Ted Callan and family, Navinville; Mrs. Etta Foster, Wichita, Kansas; Miss Julie and Lots Routh and brother Harold of Arispe. Burial was made in the family lot in the Cromwell Cemetery.
