George Franklin Bycroft

George Franklin Bycroft, son of Edward and Jane Proctor Bycroft was born South of Brooks, Iowa in Adams County, Iowa, November 11, 1879 and passed away at his home in Corning, Iowa, August 11, 1950 at 9 o'clock in the evening at the age of 70 years and 9 months.
He grew to manhood south of Brooks, where he was born. On July 3, 1901, he was married to Minnie Groff and they moved to a farm in Taylor County where they made their home and then moved to Corning in 1930.
He united with the Methodist Church July 11, 1917 and served his church well in many capacities, among them being Sunday School Supt. for eleven years. On moving to Corning he transferred his membership to the Corning Methodist Church July 31, 1930. He was also a member of the Modern Woodmen of America.
Mr. Bycroft has worked for the Mutual Benefit Insurance Company for eleven years since residing in Corning.
He was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers. Surviving are his wife, Minnie, one son, Henry, two grandchildren, Marcia and Ronald, one brother, Ed, one daughter-in-law, Mrs. Henry Bycroft, his many neighbors and friends who have known him through the years.
Funeral services were held Monday, August 14, at 2 p.m. from the Methodist Church in Corning
