Robert Bruce West
Bruce West of Holt Township, Taylor County, Iowa, died at his home last Saturday evening, aged 60 years, 7 months, and 23 days. He had been in poor health for some time and recently underwent a surgical operation from the effects of which he never recovered. The deceased was born in Know County, Ohio, May 31, 1841, and was married to Miss Sarah Ellen Monahan October 12, 1871, who survives him together with six children, they being Edgar, Cleaver, and Frank West, Mrs. R. W. Cox, Mrs. A. W. Fudge, and Miss Hazel, all residing in Holt township. Two children preceded their father in death, Effie I. Huntington and Grace A. McClure. In 1850, Mr. West came with his parents to McClean County, Illinois, and in 1869 he moved to Taylor County, which has since been his home. The funeral was held on Tuesday conducted by Rev. W. L. Dunlavy, pastor of the Christian Church in Gravity of which the deceased was a member. Interment in Prairie Rose Cemetery.
