The many friends of John Heatherington will regret to learn of his death at his home in Carl Township, Thursday morning at 8:50 from a prolonged case of diabetes. He has been a sufferer from the disease for the past eight years. John W. Heatherington was born in Scotland, August 2, 1867 and at the time of his death was aged 55 years, 6 months, and 20 days. When 4 years of age, his parents moved to the United States and located in Illinois. About thirty-nine years ago the family came to Iowa and located in the vicinity of Lincoln township of this county. Thirty-one years ago last Saturday, February 24, the deceased was married to Miss Orena L. Fast and they resided in Lincoln Township but about seven years ago they moved to Carl Township which has since been their home. To this union were born six children, one son dying in infancy. The surviving children are Emma, Joye, and Karl at home, and Mrs. Hervey Homan and Walter Heatherington, both living near Carl. The deceased is survived by four brothers, Alex. James, and William who reside south of Corning in Taylor County, and George who resides in Oakland, Iowa. Also one sister died about twenty-two years ago. He is ale survived by his mother, Mrs. Helen Heatherington who resides with her children at various places. His father died many years ago while on a visit to Scotland. The funeral will be held this Saturday afternoon at the Carl M. E. Church conducted by Rev. W. H. Warrior. Interment will be made in the Carl Cemetery. Mr. Heatherington will be sadly missed from the community. He was a highly respected citizen and loved by all who knew him. The many friends of the family join in extending sympathy to the bereaved ones.
