Ida Blanche Bell Humbert

Ida Blanche Humbert, 91, daughter of Thomas and Blanche Smeeton Bell, was born February 26, 1899 at Bridgewater and died October 30, 1990 at the Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa.
She attended school in Bridgewater and following graduation taught in that area. On May 30, 1922 she married A. Leon Humbert at Bridgewater.
They farmed near Corning for 14 years before moving to Fort Robison, Nebraska in 1936. In 1950 they moved to Lincoln, Nebraska, then to Ankeny, and in 1959 to Des Moines. She worked as a saleswoman in Yonkers Shoe Department from 1959 until she retired in 1972.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, A. Leon, two brothers, Richard and Arthur Bell, and three sisters, Mary Everhart, Olive May, and Lillian Abbey.
She is survived by her children, Gordon Humbert and wife Ione of Marion, Beverly Humbert Chiasson and her husband Ray of Northville, Michigan, Clark Humbert and Carol Humbert, both of Des Moines; a sister, Dorothy Grounds and her husband Wallace of Greenfield, and Kailua, Hawaii, Oahu; nine grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
Services were held November 3, at Coen-Beaty Funeral Home in Corning with the Rev. Ken Rummer officiating. Casket bearers were Marc Chiasson, Gordon Chiasson, Gregory Humbert, Leland Abbey, Ronald Dwinell, and Douglas Bandermyde. Burial was in Prairie Rose Cemetery by Brooks.
