Bycroft, Minnie Groff -
Mrs. Minnie Bycroft passed away at the Colonial Rest Home at Lenox, Iowa February 22, 1968 where she had made her home since November 15, 1951.
Minnie Groff Bycroft was born in Nodaway township, Taylor Co., Iowa December 7, 1879, the daughter of Catherine and John Groff. It was here, in the
company of her brothers and sisters, that she grew to womanhood.
On July 3, 1901 she was united in marriage to George F. Bycroft. They spent most of their married life on a farm in the Fairview vicinity where her son Henry now resides. They moved to Corning in the spring of 1930, residing there until the death of her husband George on August 3, 1950.
She is survived by one son Henry and daughter-in-law Gladys of Brooks, two grandchildren Marcia Cerven, and husband Dale of Corning, and
Ronald Bycroft and wife Jeannetta of Gibbon, Nebraska, six great-grandchildren besides a host of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Bycroft had a devoted interest in small children which she maintained throughout her entire life. She was an active member of her church and
neighborhood as long as her Health permitted.
One of her favorite prayers well expresses her reason for living:
It does delight my soul
To feel that I have done
Some little thing for- someone
Other than myself.
That by look, word, or deed
That I have helped some weary
soul
To bear a burden that I feel
Was greater than my own.
Funeral services were held from the Roland Funeral Home in Corning February 24 at 1:30 p. m. conducted by Rev. Howard Wells. Burial was in the Prairie Rose Cemetery.
Flower bearers were Mrs. Russell Vogel and Mrs. L. C. Anderson. Pallbearers were L. C. Anderson, Russell Vogel, Olin Shuler, Ed Naven, Floyd Van Pelt and Cliff Groff.
