Jesse Franklin Harlow, son of William Isaac Harlow and Mary Lucretia Walton, was born in Brooks, Iowa on January 4, 1887 and passed away at the Veteran's Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska on March 24, 1960 after a serious lingering illness.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Joseph. Survivors include two brothers, William and Thelbert of Brooks, one sister, Mrs. Mabel Lawrence of Brooks, another sister, Mrs. Myrtle Ford of Omaha, Nebraska, a sister-in-law, Mrs. Thelbert Harlow and several nieces and nephews.
Jesse was a veteran of World War I and a member of the American Legion. He loved and enjoyed the younger children of his community of whom he was always kind, generous, and helpful. Jesse lived his entire life in Books, quietly and unassumingly by was a staunch and loyal friend to those about him. They will greatly miss him and his cheery "hello".
Services were held Sunday, March 27, 1960 at 2 p.m. from the Roland Funeral Home in Corning, Iowa with Joe Cook officiating. Music was by John Riegel and Mrs. Joe Cook. Pall bearers wet Ivan Heston, Dallas Perrin, Harry Odell, Don Mercer, Lowell Odell, and Paul Odell. Interment was in Brooks Cemetery.
