Riley, Martha Rilla Harrison -
Martha Rilla Harrison daughter of Samuel and Sarah Harrison was born near Corning, February 5, 1877 and passed away June 3, 1967 at the age of 90 years, 3 months, and 2 days.
She was married to Louis Riley April 20th, 1904. They lived many years in the Mercer Center neighborhood before moving to Corning in 1944.
She was preceded in death by her husband Louis in 1955, her parents, two sisters—Lizzie Brokaw and Kate Harrison, and one brother John Harrison.
She is survived by two sisters—Maggie Mcllravy, Isabel Lucas, several nieces and nephews, also Leslie Bycroft who was like a son to her since 1919 and his wife, and their daughters and families—-Deva and Charles Lundquist and Joan and Andrew Mosby.
Rilla was a member of the Corning Methodist Church, the WSCS of Mercer Center and later the Corning WSCS, and the Bay View Reading Circle. She closed her home in Corning, July 12, 1966 and made her home with Mabel and Leslie Bycroft of near Lenox.
Funeral services were held from the Methodist Church in Corning, Iowa, Monday June 5th at 2:00 p.m. conducted by Rev. Lester Moore. Music was furnished by Mrs Doyle Tranbarger and Mrs Bert Peckman with Mrs Joe Cook organist. Burial was in the Walnut Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers were Homer O'Connell, Porter Hunter, Howard Pepper, Tip Lucas, George Brokaw and Bernard Riley.
