Rubin, Zola Norwood Starr -
Zola Norwood Rubin, the daughter of Oscar W. and Lela Ralston Starr was born on a farm near Villisca, Iowa Nov. 11, 1895 and passed away from a sudden heart attack at her home hear Lenox, Dec. 11, 1966 at the age of 71 years and 1 month.
She received her education in the Nodaway schools and was graduated from Des Moines University in Des Moines. She taught school in the Elementary grades in Ames, Creston, Rural Taylor County and later in the Sharpsburg schools.
She was married to Clarence Rubin, Sept. 18, 1926 at The Little Brown Church in the Vale at Nashua, Iowa and they made their home in Corning where Mr. Rubin was sheriff of Adams Co. In 1934 they moved to their present farm home 5 miles west of Lenox.
Mrs. Rubin was a member of the Methodist Church in Lenox and a member of the WSCS, a past Worthy Matron of the Corning chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, and a member of the Sunshine Sisters Neighborhood club.
She is survived by her husband, Clarence Rubin, one sister, Marie Repass, a brother-in-law, William Repass of Villisca, Iowa, brothers-in-law Fred Rubin of Corning and Lonnie Rubin of Denver, Colo., two half brothers-in-law, five half sisters-in-law; one aunt, Mrs. Ben J. Gibson of Des Moines, and a number of cousins.
Funeral services were held from the Methodist Church at Lenox by the Rev, Floyd Newbrough on December 14, 1966 with the Bender Funeral home in charge. Pall Bearers were William Wurster, William Paul, Orval May, Ernest Nook, Duane Dougherty and John Cade.
The flowers were cared for by Miss Mary Maloney and Mrs. Agnes Paul. Music was by Mrs. Lonnie Barker and Mrs. James Beck accompanied by Mrs. Eugene Paymal.
Burial was in the Methodist Grove Cemetery south of Brooks.
