John N. W. SUTTON
The body of John N. M. Sutton, a former citizen of Adams County, was brought back to Brooks, Iowa last Friday from Council Bluffs where the gentleman passed away in a hospital Wednesday morning at 6:15 following a brief illness.
John N. M. Sutton was born at Bethlehem, Iowa January 13, 1864, and moved to Brooks when he was twelve years old. He spent the early part of his life on the Burlington Railroad at Brooks, and the past 24 years of his life as foreman on the Chicago Great Western Railroad located at Bentley, Iowa.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Maggie Sutton, two sons, Sgt. Gail Sutton in the 146th infantry, Harold Sutton of Menlo, three daughters, Mrs. Elsie Ross and Mrs. Florence Beck of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Mrs. Bessie Lobendo of McClelland; also Bryan Sutton and Mrs. Alma Riggle. Three infant children are deceased. Ben Sutton of Corning is a nephew. Mr. Sutton was 78 years old.
Funeral services were held at the Brooks Church at 3:30 p.m. Friday afternoon, Rev. Ora Reep in charge. Mrs. Betsey Refling and Mrs. Glen Tucker furnished music. Pall bearers were Cassius Dawson, Ernest and Ivan Stillinger, Earl Brown, Merle Brown. Burial was in Brooks Cemetery.
