Glen attended country schools through the 8th grade and then graduated from Corning High School in 1920 prior to taking courses in Grand Island Business School. He then returned home working on the farm and in his father's coal mine before starting farming for himself in 1924.
On December 22, 1925, Glenn was united in marriage with Velma Hill at the home of her parents north of Carbon. One stillborn son was born to this union of July 9, 1932.
He was engaged in farming all of his life with the exception of one year spent in the implement business in Villisca, Iowa, for the past 20 years, Glenn farmed in partnership with tenants in whom he took great interest. This arrangement made it possible for him to spend more time at a variety of activities on which he found enjoyment. For six of these years he operated a road maintainer, grading and building roads. Glenn was a coon hunter all his life, widely known as a breeder and trainer of coon hounds, with this knowledge and ability contributing to his authorship of a column in a national coon hunting magazine for 16 years.
Deeply interested in all community betterment activities, he was active in Republican party pointers and served in a number of township responsibilities as well as other elected offices.
One of Glenn's greatest loves was the land from which he made his living. His vision of what could be under proper stewardship was the goal toward which he worked utilizing the best conservation practices and farm operation technology. The mere fulfillment of this dream is visible today.
Glenn was a lifelong church member and a 32 year member of the Carbon United Methodist Church always taking a deep interest in its activates and working hard to make it a success.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his parents-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Hill.
