Thomas Blackburn Hyde died at his home in Nodaway Friday, August 29, 1919, after an illness of several months. He was aged 78 years, months and 13 days. The funeral services were held at the home Sunday, August 31st, conducted by Rev. Ivan Mills, and the body was laid to rest in the Nodaway cemetery.
Thomas Blackburn Hyde was born in Union county, Ohio, March 15, 1841. He was converted in early life and became a member of the Methodist church. He lived a faithful Christian life. On the 7th of December, 1865, he was married to Miss Elizabeth Kennedy. To this union six children were born, two of whom are deceased, one passing away in infancy and Ottie at the age of 1 years. The surviving children are: Mrs. Lawrence Kennedy, of Lyons, Colo.; Mrs. Fred Carothers, of Nodaway; Kittie, at home, and G. D. Hyde. Mr. Hyde was a member of
the 129th Ohio volunteer infantry and served his country during the civil war to its close. For many years Mr. Hyde and his family resided on a farm near Nodaway and for over 20 years his home had been in the city. Many friends will miss Mr. Hyde and
all sympathize with his loved ones in their loss.
