Mrs. Shuler, formerly Miss Caroline Walker, was born, in Brooklyn, Illinois, January 2, 1844. She grew to young womanhood at ithe place of her birth, and was united in marriage to J. A. Shuler March 16, 1865. Mr. and Mrs. Shuler emigrated to Iowa in 1873, and established their home south of Iveyville, where they resided until 1890, when they came to Corning. Mr. Shuler died in 1896, and for the past 23 years Mrs. Shuler made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Austin Turner. Three children came to bless the Shuler home, Perry Shuler, who died in 1885, and Mrs. Ella Turner, and Henry Shuler, who survive their parents, and live in Corning. Six grandchildren are also living.
Early in life Mrs. Shuler united with the Methodist church, in which she remained a member until some time after coming to Corning, when she united with the Presbyterian
church in which fellowship she remained faithful until she was called to her reward. The close of her earthly life came peacefully at the Methodist hospital at Omaha, Nebr., May 27, 1919, at the age of 75 years, 4 months and 25 days.
Mrs. Shuler was not only an intelligent, kind, sweet spirited mother, but she was also much interested in public affairs. Her heart was with the church and her hands ministered to every kindly deed. She was ready for her Master's summons. The ripened, golden sheaf has been garnered by her Savior. May we not truly say of her as of the ancient warrior, she has fought the fight, won the victory and entered into rest.
