Mrs. Henry Shuler
Ida V. Myers Shuler, daughter of Jonathan E. and Nancy Purdum Myers, was born September 17, 1870 near Sardinia, Brown County, Ohio and died at her home in Corning, December 13, 1955 at the age if 85 years, 2 months, and 26 days.
She came with her parents to Iowa December 15, 1881.
She received her education in the district school in Corning and for one year after which she taught school for a time.
September 16, 1891, she was united in marriage to Henry W. Shuler and November 3 moved to his farm in Taylor County. In the spring of 1896 they moved to the Shuler homestead and it was here their five children were born, Myron, Claudine, Lois, John, and Cathryn.
Mr. and Mrs. Shuler joined the Methodist Church at Iveyville in 1891 and Mrs. Shuler was also a member of the Rebekah Lodge.
After Mr. Shuler lost his health they moved to Corning in 1917 where the home has been since that time.
Mrs. Shuler was preceded in death by her husband, Henry, March 9, 1948, one daughter, Mrs. Cathryn Hayes, one son-in-law, Mr. Leonerd; her parents, three brothers, Emmett, Ellwood, and Samuel Myers and two sisters, Annie and Bertha.
She is survived by a son, Myron; two daughters, Mrs. Claudine Leonard and Mrs. Lois Hollbrook; one son-in-law, Byron Hollbrook; one daughter-in-law, Gladys Shuler, whom she loved dearly, six grandsons, Olin and Billy Shuler, Delmar and Harold Leonard, and Clifford and Claude Hayes; one brother, Elmer Myers of Cromwell; also 11 great grandchildren and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held Thursday, December 15, 1955 at 3 p.m. at the Roland Funeral Home in Corning with the Rev. Frank Jacobs in charge. Interment in the Prairie Rose Cemetery.
Music was furnished by Mrs. Esther Roland and John Riegal accompanied by Mrs. Eva Elmore, pianist.
Pall bearers were Olin Shuler, Billy Shuler, Harold Leonard, Glenn Myers, Clifford Hayes, and Claude Hayes.
