Glenn Darwin Myers Dies in Omaha
Longtime Trucker In Corning Area
Glen d. Myers, a longtime Corning businessman died last Thursday, August 17, at Clarkson Hospital in Omaha. He had been admitted to the hospital August 14.
Funeral services were held Sunday, August 21, at 2 p.m. from the Methodist Church in Corning, conducted bby Rev. Brown Garlock. Interment was in Prairie Rose Cemetery.
Mr. Myers entered the poultry business with his father here in 1921. About 10 years later the business was changed to the Glen D. Myers Trucking and Feed. Mr. Myers was still active in trucking at the time of his death.
During his years in this business, Mr. Myers was prominent in working to get rates established in Iowa. He also owned the first semi-trailer stock truck in Corning.
Mr. Myers, the son of Eveline Betsy Crowell and Francis Ellwood Myers, was born September 9, 1898 at Iveyville. he grew up on a farm near Lenox and later moved to Corning, where he resided the rest of his life.
He was united in marriage to Alma V. Lund on September 26, 1923 at Creston. To this union were born two daughters, Mrs. Betty Hayward and Darlene Myers, both of Corning.
Survivors include his wife, two daughters, one son-in-law, Ernest Hayward; a sister, Grace Nickiach of Redondo Beach, California, and other relatives and friends.
Music at the service was by Roland Buxton and Mrs. Joe Cook. Pall bearers were Louis Peterson, Orville Liddell, Lyman Hoselton, Roy Krauth, Lewis Stott, and Cliff Groff.
