Mrs. F. Elwood Myers, nee Miss Eva Crowell, who passed away at her late residence at Stringtown on Saturday evening last, was born January 14, 1873, in Taylor County, the eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thos. Crowell. She was married to Ellwood Myers October 19, 1892, to whom she was a devoted and faithful wife for 14 years. For some time they resided in the western part of Adams County and about six years ago came to reside on the farm now occupied by the family. Five children, four girls and one boy were born to them, all of who survive with the husband and father, together with a father, mother, three brothers, and one sister. Whilst the deceased lady was not in perfect health for some time, her last illness extended only over five days, an acute attack of typhoid fever having seized her in the early part of last week. The funeral took place on Monday morning, services being conducted at the United Presbyterian Church by Rev. J. W. Ackley of Iveyville and Rev. Morgan of Des Moines, the later being a near relative of the deceased. The remains were laid to rest in the quiet country cemetery of Prairie Rose amid the genuine sorrow and sympathy of many friends. The late Mrs. Myers was a woman of many virtues and a most painstaking and affectionate wife and mother. Her early taking off is a heavy and irreparable loss to the household. Mrs. Myers enjoyed the kindly respect of all her neighbors and acquaintance who join in sympathy for the sorrowing home.
