Claudine F. Spriggs, 84, Merced, Calif., Dies

Claudine Faye (Buxton) Spriggs, 84, of Merced, Calif., formerly of Prescott (Stringtown community) and Corning, died Sept. 16, 2002, at her home.

Memorial services were held 3 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18 at Central Presbyterian Church in Merced, Calif. Burial will be in the Merced District Cemetery. The Stratford Evans Funeral Home, 1490 B. St., Merced, Calif., had charge of arrangements. Memorials may be directed to charity of donor’s choice.

Mrs. Spriggs was born Sept. 30, 1917, in Prescott and graduated from Corning High School with a narmal training teaching credential. She taught in a rural school for eight years. On May 24, 1942, she married Alfred Spriggs. She attended the Central Presbyterian Church and was involved with the Presbyterian Mariners program. She was a member and past president of the Sopoptmist Club of Merced, Calif., life member of PTA and past president of Hospice of Merced County.

Survivors include her husband, Alfred Spriggs of Merced, Calf.; three children, Bill (wife Phyllis) Spriggs, John (wife Kerry) Spriggs and Donna (husband Jim) lloberts, all of Merced; a brother, Burdette “Buck” Buxton and a sister Norma Jean Richardson, both of Creston; and six grand children.
