Final rites were conducted Sept. 9 at the Coen-Beaty Funeral Home in Corning for Olin Russell Goldsmith, 68. of Corning. Joe Cook was in charge of the service. Burial was in the Prairie Rose Cemetery near Coming. Corning.
Casket bearers were Jesse Cross, Glen Hlckman, Marvin Steffen, Larry Haggerty, Byron Steadman, Richard Goldsmith and Norman Karstensen. Honorary bearers were Kristin Goldsmith, Rodney Goldsmith, Darren Goldsmith, Scott Goldsmith, Christopher Huffman and Aaron Huffman.
Mr. Goldsmith was born Oct. 1, 1919, In Adams County and died Sept. 7, 1988, at his home in Coming.
He was the son of Edward P. and Flossie Mae Myers Goldsmith. He lived his early years in the Brooks and Corning areas, attending the Corning Community School where he graduated with the class of 1936.
On Feb. 27, 1940, he married Eleanor G. Septer at the Methodist parsonage in Corning. They farmed for 30 years before moving to Corning in 1972 where he drove a school bus for 10 years.
Preceding Mr. Goldsmith in death were his father and two brothers-in-law, Vernon Stewart and Glen Septer.
Survivors include his wife; mother, Flossie Goldsmith of Stanton: four children, Russell Goldsmith and wife, Janet of Prescott, Bill Goldsmith of Clinton, Mo.. Steven Goldsmith of Corning and Margery Huffman of Waverly; one brother. Earl Goldsmith and wife, Ruth of Corning: three sisters-in-law, Effie Palmer and husband. Dale of Council Bluffs, and Lois Stewart and Lois Septer, both of Corning; and six
Olin R. Goldsmith grandchildren.
