Edward P. Goldsmith died Tuesday of last week at his home near Ridgeway, Missouri, aged 62 years. His death occurred very suddenly from heart trouble and was a great shock to his family and to his many friends in this county, where he had lived so long. The remains, which was brought to this county for burial, were met at the Corning station by the members of the Liewellyn Post G.A.R. who escorted them to Snavely's undertaking parlors. The funeral took place Thursday morning at 11:30 from the Methodist Church in Iveyville under the auspices of the Grand Army.The services were conducted by Rev. E. A. Moore and interment was made in the Prairie Rose Cemetery. Mr. Goldsmith was born near Dover, Delaware and when 21 years old enlisted in Company A. First Delaware Cavalry and received an honorable discharge at the end of three years faithful service. In 1871 he removed to Illinois, where he was married the following year to Miss Helen Bieber. In 1875 he removed to this county and had lived here ever since until last February when he removed to Missouri. His home was near Iveyville, where he was esteemed and respected as a good citizen and neighbor. Six children were born to them; they are Mrs. Jennie Gillett of Corning; Mrs. Elizabeth Brown; A. A. Goldsmith, Mrs. Nola Tucker of Brooks, and John and Miss Fannie at home. Besides his wife and children, he leaves a large circle of friends to mourn his death.
