Francis Goldsmith, 81, Lenox, was born to Alvin B. and Marella Brown Goldsmith Sept. 2, 1915, in Adams County. He-died at Alegent Health Mercy Hospital in Coming July 7, 1997.
He attended rural school in Adams County. He was married to Mabel Lucille Purdum on Jan. 1, 1936. at Brooks.
Mr. Goldsmith was a lifelong farmer in Adams County. He retired in the mid 1970s and moved to Lenox. He was a member of the Mercer Center Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife March 25, 1996; sister Lucille; brothers Oliver and Lewis and twins James and Edward; and an infant son.
He is survived by his son Dean (wife Margaret) Goldsmith, Windsor. Colo.; daughter Linda (husband Curtis) Jordening, Houston. Texas; sisters-in-law Mary Goldsmith of Corning and Estella Goldsmith. Seattle, Wash.; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services were held at the Mercer Center Church with the Rev. Audrey Westendorf officiating. Burial was in the Prairie Rose Cemetery, rural Corning.
Memorials may be directed to the Mercer Center Church.
