For three weeks, the friends and relatives have watched anxiously the futile battle against death made by Mrs. Orville Bunting, hoping against hope that she might be able to rally from the attack of pneumonia and other complications, and the deepest sorrow and regret was felt when her frail body succumbed Thursday, December 26th at 9:30 p.m. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. in the Methodist Church by Rev. Walter Morgan of Ames, who is related to the family. Interment was made in the Prairie Rose Cemetery.
Cora E. Myers, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frances Elwood (Eveline B. Crowell) Myers was born November 12, 1902 near Stringtown. She was the youngest of five children. She received her education in the rural schools and in the Corning, High School. September 16, 1920 she was married to Orville Bunting and one child was born. Eugene, 12, survives. She is also survived by her husband, her father, also two sisters and one brother. The sisters are Grace Fowler of Clarinda and Hazel Bray of Scottsbluff, Nebraska. Her only brother is Glenn of Corning. Her mother preceded her in death 30 years ago and her sister, Gertrude Smith died a year ago. Mrs. Bunting united with the Methodist Church in early life and was also a member of the Royal Neighbor Lodge. She was 33 years, 1 month, and 14 days old at the time of her death.
Those who attended the funeral from a distance were Grace Fowler and children of Clarinda, Merle Crowell and family of New Market, Oliver Howard and wife of New Market, Harry Crowell of Gravit, Elmer Myers of Afton, and Ed Crowell and wife of Prescott, Elmer Stott and wife of Calloway, Nebraska. Many other relatives and friends of nearby towns and of the community came to pay a last tribute to the memory of a much beloved woman.
