Louis C. Baker was born near Martinsville, Indiana, February 26, 1839 and died at the home of his son, E. P. Baker, July 24, 1931, after a brief illness, at the age of 92 years, 4 months, 29 days. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 at the Fairview Christian church, conducted by Rev. J. E. Lair, pastor of the church. Interment was made in Prairie Rose Cemetery.
Mr. Baker was the father of five children, two of these and his wife having preceded him in death. The three living children are E. P. Baker of Brooks, Iowa, C. C. Baker of Villisca, Iowa, and M. J. Baker of Springfield, Massachusetts. Five grandchildren survive him, Mrs. C. A. Wiley of Omaha, Nebraska, Earl Baker of Donna, Texas, Glen Baker of Brooks, Iowa, Mrs. Mabel Cooper of Kinsley, Kansas, and Pauline Baker of Brooks; also seven great grandchildren.
For the past sixteen years he has made his home with the two sons, E. P. and C. C. Baker. He was a member of the Fairview Christian Church where he was regularly found in worship until his advanced age would not permit. Besides his immediate family he leaves also numerous friends and relatives who will miss him from their midst.
Those from a distance who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. B. L. Watson and daughter, Lila of Council Bluffs, Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Wiley of Omaha, Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Butte and son, Mary Watson, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Sheets and Mrs. Etta Tinsdal all of Shenandoah.
