Iowa, USA Charles Sherman Pond died at his home in this city, last Wednesday evening at 8:20 from softening of the brain and a complication of other troubles, aged 54 years, 5 months and 4 days. Mr. Pond has been a resident of our city a number of years, being well known painter and paper hanger Some months ago his mind became unbalanced and he was taken to the hospital at Clarinda. A few weeks ago he was brought home having gained mentally but very weak physically and he gradually grew worse until the end came. He leaves his wife, brothers and sisters to mourn his loss. Th funeral services were held Friday morning at 10.30 at the Christian church, conducted by Rev. S. F. Gutelius, of the Presbyterian church, assisted by Rev. W. D. Crewdson, pastor of the Christian church, and interment was made in the Prairie Rose cemetery.
